MARTIN N. BUCHANAN IS A CALIFORNIA LAWYER SPECIALIZING IN APPEALS
Since graduating from Harvard Law School in 1986, Martin Buchanan has devoted nearly all of his professional career to litigating appeals in state and federal courts. Martin’s mission is to provide top quality legal representation to clients in the appellate courts.
In a published decision, the Ninth Circuit has reversed the dismissal of tort claims brought against federal officials for their failure to prevent the deaths of two boys who were killed when a tree limb fell onto their tent in Yosemite National Park. Martin represented the plaintiffs on appeal.
Martin has been elected to the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, a national organization of experienced appellate lawyers who have demonstrated the highest skill level and integrity. Membership is by invitation only, and is limited to 500 lawyers in the United States.
In response to a writ petition filed by Martin and an alternative writ of mandate issued by the Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Alameda County has reversed its own prior ruling compelling Martin's client to arbitrate a personal injury matter.
